Do I own land on the Moon?
No. The 1967 Outer Space Treaty says no nation may appropriate the Moon. We are not a nation, and this is not a workaround. You are buying a named square on our map and a ceremonial deed.
So what am I actually getting?
A 1 m² cell in the First District, in the Sea of Tranquility. A name, an optional public listing, a permalink your friends can open, and a deed that says — in writing — that it is not a title.
Is this a scam?
It is a joke sold honestly. If a site tells you they filed a claim with the UN, they are doing the same thing with worse copy. We would rather print NOT A TITLE on the certificate.
Can I buy this for someone else?
Yes. That is the better version. On the map, choose “It’s a gift,” put your email (Stripe sends you the receipt) and their name and email. We give you a message to text or email. We do not send it for you yet — you do. They get a page with the square, the note, and the deed.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Email hello@onemeteronthemoon.com. We’ll refund you. The square goes back on the map so someone else can claim it. Any PDF you already saved is yours to keep; it still isn’t a title. If it was a gift, the gift link will stop showing a live square.
Why $6?
Cheap enough to be fun. Not so cheap it feels like spam. One square, one name, one place on the map.
How do I pay?
Stripe. You name the square here, then pay $6 (or $12 for two that touch) on Stripe’s page. The square is yours after the charge succeeds. The bank line should look like ONEMETERONTHEMOON, not a mystery LLC charge.
Will my name be public?
Only if you check the box. If you do not, the map still marks the square as taken and labels it Private square. We keep an email so we can send the deed later; it never goes on the wall.
Can I buy more than one?
Yes. You can claim another open square, or take two that touch for $12 on checkout. When the 10,000 are gone, this district is closed. We will not quietly print extra Moon.
Can I visit?
Not with us. Bring your own rocket. Parking is excellent.
How close is this to Apollo 11?
About 337 kilometers. The First District is in the Sea of Tranquility; Tranquility Base is too. Armstrong’s bootprints are west-southwest of our grid, not on it. A meter is still a meter. We did not pick this sea to pretend you own the flag.
Is the Moon photo NASA?
We use a public full-Moon photograph and a close-up of our little district. We are not NASA and not affiliated with any space agency. One square meter is smaller than a pixel on the globe photo. Light from the Moon takes about 1.3 seconds to reach you.
